The class wiki went reasonably well for a first time/full of glitches experiment. I learned that groups should be limited to no more than eight (if that many) and that video explanations work better than written directions.

I continue to be most impressed by CommonCraft and want to do some simple intro pieces about research process in their format (if I can figure out how).

I've continued exploring Camtasia for Web and podcast tutorials. I've also started using a Wiki (Wetpaint) for class discussions in one online course. Both seem to be working fairly well.

Zotero is a neat add-on to Firefox. It is a bibliographic storage with lots of features.

This will be a review of del.icio.us. The video that explains it has already been created (and sharing is allowed), so please take a look:

I was introduced to del.icio.us by my new friend in New Zealand (whom I have mentioned before and would not have "met" if not for this course) and have been using it for the past month. It has a feature in which it will import all the bookmarks currently on your computer (be careful, if you are like me you have a LOT) which is nice, but requires you to go through and add all the tags to make it actually useful. I have shared some of my bookmarks, though I mark most of them to not share. The best feature so far is the ability to access the same bookmarks from multiple computers (so I no longer have to email web addresses to myself to share between work and home).

My first Video production

Here is the video for module 5. It was created with a Sony HandyCam and iMovie on a PowerBook G4. It was not quite as "easy" as I usually expect from a Mac...adding voiceover was very challenging (and you may need to increase your volume control when you get to the end, where I finally managed to add it). Moving the clips around, adding photos, and even adding captions (once I learned the entire sequence) were all fairly easy (although I will admit that the blue is difficult to read on some clips). Hope you like it!

Raptivity for Interaction

Here is my first Raptivity try. It was easy, once I realized that you just over-wrote the sample (at least, that's what I think you do). And once I read the instructions in Geocities that the filename couldn't have spaces. And....actually, those were the only glitches.

I like the concept of rapid learning and believe my students will appreciate these little "study guides".

Seeing how long it has been since I posted here I must admire those bloggers who actually keep going week after week!

In defense of myself, I would note that I have started two other blogs related to my profession (http://otstoryteller.wordpress.com/ and http://researchot.wordpress.com/ ) that I have also neglected...yet if you add all three, my attention to blogging is at least "fair".

Being introduced to blogging has been an enhancement to my life and career...I have met a really neat OT in New Zealand and we are collaborating. Google Talk has let us have our first conversation and we have scheduled an Elluminate meeting for next week (would have been this week, but the firewall on campus blocked me from connecting with them).

So while this particular blog may not survive long, the skills will live on!

3. I think it's important to look at who's using it and how...I don't necessarily use them on a regular basis because I don't want some of pictures, info so openly available.

4. Web 2.0 is interactive web? it has it's uses, it's catching on quickly. comment: I do not have a google account, but I depend on google and use it a 'million' times a day. My kids both have google accounts (email) I use Wikipedia, and I also have other wikis that I use.

Survey Monkey

Using SurveyMonkey to create, disseminate, and analyze results has been a fun experience. The types of questions you can ask and the formating are functional and pretty.

I sent a survey on Social Networking/Web 2.0 to friends and colleagues (with the request to help me as this was a class assignment) and they have come through quickly. I sent to more than 10 people and am still waiting for more to respond, but 10 have already responded.

Our age is showing, as many of my respondents have no idea what I am asking about...but some do and their comments are thoughtful. I structured about 5 single multiple choice items; one multiple, multiple choice; and two places for comments.
